If there is any place which is most favourite to me in this hell of a world it is VIVEKANANDA INSTITUTE OF HUMAN EXCELLENCE.

A Country’s future depends on the youth of that country. The young energy needs to be channelised in right direction in order to explore their hidden potentials and put them for better use. The teenage minds are susceptible to all types of negative influences. The right age to mould the individual is the teenage, where we can expose them to positive ideas for building their character and personality.       Swami Vivekananda had tremendous faith in the Youth of India. He said: “Arise, awake, for your country needs tremendous sacrifice. It is the young men that will do it. ‘The Young, the Energetic, the Strong, the Well-built, the Intellectual’ – for them is the task.”
Concerned about the gradual erosion of moral and spiritual values in every sphere of life and activity, Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad, felt the urgent need for starting an institute to impart the age-old cherished ideals and values aimed at providing, what the great patriot-monk Swami Vivekananda had said, ‘life-building, man-making, character-making and nation-building’, education and
training.  The result is the establishment of the Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence in the holy precincts of the Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad, which was inaugurated by Srimat Swami Ranganathanandaji Maharaj, then President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, on 10 September 2000.
The chief aim of the Institute is to instill faith in oneself and impart nobler values of life and life-giving strength, to raise individuals to higher levels of strength and felicity with spiritual, moral, ethical and eternal values of personality development and human excellence. Various programmes are intended for the aspirants coming from different cross sections of society, like the youth, students, teachers, employees of Government departments, public sector undertakings, corporate bodies and professionals like engineers, doctors and others. Since the inception of the Institute, more than 3,00,000 candidates have been trained in different courses. “We want that Education by which Character is formed, Strength of mind is increased, the Intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on One’s own feet.” - Swami Vivekananda

While concentration is the key of success in any work, the mind of the modern youth is restless. They are unable to concentrate on anything. Various factors are responsible for such an unstable state of mind. Schools and Colleges are stuffing the brains of the students with information and unfortunately there is no proper training for the mind. The Youth are falling prey to all sorts of bad habits
due to their uncontrolled mind. To help our youth in developing a strong mind and a sharp intellect, the Institute is conducting regular meditation courses for the youth between the age group of 15 and 30.
Do not spend your energy in taking but meditate in silence. And Do not let the rush of the outside world disturb you. When your mind is in the highest state, you are unconscious of it. Accumulate power in silence and become a dynamo of spirituality. - Swami Vivekananda

By changing our outlook, we can change our destiny. This course imparts wonderful ideas among the participants to improve their own selves by their own efforts. Duration: One Week

Communication is an art, by mastering which one can easily enter into the hearts of others. Speech is a free gift of God. Those who know how to use it, attain great success in life. Swami Vivekananda could conquer the whole world by his power of speech. Knowledge of language is not enough. In addition to a good command over language, we need several other abilities in our day to day life to attain peace and happiness. Regular classes are conducted to help our people to acquire skills in communication both for personal and professional excellence. Duration: One Week

 Confidence Building Course
Swami Vivekananda said, “All Power is within you, you can do anything and everything”. We are not able to manifest that power due to lack of self-confidence. Self-confidence alone can lead us to success in what ever field we work. This course was started in order to build confidence in the youth and others through great treasures of development skills we possess. Duration: One Week

Music is the purifier of soul and is the language of Gods. India has a great music tradition with a divine orientation. Great saint composers enriched the spiritual values among people and remained immortal through their services to music and thereby to our great culture. In order to train those who desire
learning music in classical or devotional or instrumental areas, the Institute conducts a 3 months training course. Several batches have already come out from the Institute in Devotional Music and Tabla and presented stage programmes.
Duration - Three months
For children above 12 years | | | | Fine arts like drawing and painting develop creative skills and aesthetic talents among children. They also improve concentration concepts among them - a very essential quality for students in education - besides making them good artists and painters. This also helps them in improving their mathematical and science drawing abilities when they move on to higher classes. The Institute is organizing a bi-weekly three months course for the children of the age group of 8 to 15 years in drawing and painting. Duration: Three months (Saturdays & Sundays)

While on one hand we are able to control most of the physical ailments through several systems of medicine, we see an enormous increase of physiological and mental problems on the other hand. When problems are not solved, the diseases are not cured but are shifted from physical to mental level. In most of the cases the complexity of one’s own personality disturbs the whole surroundings. Before trying to change others, let us try to change ourselves by learning certain techniques to control the mischievous and trouble shooting mind. This course is offered by the Institute to help people to strengthen their minds through practical techniques developed by the great teachers to avoid mental and psychological disorders. | | The home is the first school for a child and the parents are its first Gurus.
However this noble ideal lost its identity in the modern society due to influences of Western trends and electronic media like the T.V. The homes have become hubs of hectic activity without proper attention to the disciplined growth of the child. In order to bring home their parental responsibilities and to motivate them on the right methods of bringing up children, the Institute organizes parent’s motivation programme in summer with experts in the field and interacting with them on the very vital aspects of their responsibilities. Personality is not just a physical appearance but it is an all-round development of a human being in all aspects of life. Total personality includes physical, mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual dimensions of an individual. To help
our youth and the general public to develop all these vital aspects, the Institute is conducting Personality Development course for nearly three months on every Sunday in the morning and the evening, wherein Yogasanas and meditation are taught and inspiring talks on relevant subjects are arranged. Duration: Six Sundays

Three-days stay in the Math campus is an excellent exposure to various positive ideas. The day starts with chanting, prayer, meditation and yogasanas. Throughout the day Expert Faculties and senior Swamiji"s enlighten them with positive ideas through discourses and interactions. And the day ends again with prayer and meditation. This course helps them to assimilate and digest thoughts of great personalities in order to develop total personality and good character. Public Meetings in different towns and villages to bring spiritual and cultural awareness amongst general public. | | |  Special One-day Conventions For Professional Groups (Doctors, Nurses, Engineers . .)
There has been a wide spread criticism that the professional groups like doctors, nurses, lawyers and engineers are tilting more towards unscrupulous earnings ignoring professional ethics. The nobility of service should adorn their professions so that people repose faith in them before they go as clients. This is possible only when these professional groups follow the great ethical values for which India stood for ages. The Institute is periodically organizing special one-day conventions for professional groups like doctors, engineers etc., to instil in them the need for professional ethics through philosophy of service.
The conventions for doctors, nurses and bank officials, already organized,
have been a grand success. These are arranged independently or on collaboration with the professional Associations like Indian Medical Association or Indian Banks’ Association etc. | | | | Gandhiji had rightly said, ‘India lives in villages’. But unfortunately the rural India bears a poor look of abject poverty and widespread illiteracy. | The secret of success is efficiency in work. Many Western countries are able to develop very fast through a right attitude towards work, commitment to and patriotism. To train the Government/ Corporate employees as a enlightened citizens and make them realize their responsibilities towards people and country, the Institute is conducting various special programmes. Many such programmes were organized for the employees of Panchayat Raj, Vijaya Dairy, Midhani and Dr. MCR HRD Institute in the Institute premises. To expose our youth to these wonderful positive ideas, the Institute is regularly conducting special value

To make them aware about their role and responsibility in moulding the character of thousands of tender minds, the Institute is organizing regular value orientated programmes. This is aimed at strengthening the formal academic education with transformal values with teachers as catalysts. These programmes are conducted either for one, two or three days. The education that the children are getting at their schools today has become purely academic and information oriented without any scope for value
acquisition. As a result student indiscipline has become a big problem in India. To infuse a love for values and appreciation for our great culture, the Institute organizes every year – during Summer vacation - three-week special training camps for school-going children for 3 hours everyday from 8-30 to 11-30 a.m. In these camps the children are taught singing Bhajans, reciting slokas from
Upanishads and the Bhagavad-Gita besides lectures from eminent teachers. Two weeks summer camp in the month of May every year. * Dress code: white;
* Bonafide certificate must be produced at the time of admission for
verification of age. | | | Modern Science has certainly made life comfortable but it brought with it many
disadvantages. Sedentary lifestyle is causing health-hazards in many people,
particularly in professionals and office goers, who spend most of their time in office cabins. `Health is wealth’ is a well known proverb. A sickly person cannot concentrate on anything and that leads to frustration and failure. To help them acquire the techniques of maintaining good health, the Institute is conducting regular yoga classes separately for men and women under the guidance of expert yoga teachers. It’s a three-week course conducted every month.

Swami Vivekananda offered excellent guidelines for proper channelizations of the youth power through several methods. The Institute organizes regular youth conventions as sponsored programmes of educational institutions in groups or as individuals. More than 50,000 youth have participated so far.
